Undertakes continuing researches on the lake and its tributaries and the ecology as a whole;

Provides laboratory support services to industrial pollution control activities of the PCD, environmental programs/projects of other divisions of the agency, and outside clientele;

Systematically monitors the ambient water quality of the lake, its tributary river systems and Pasig River, the results of which will serve as basis for a rationale approach to water resource development and concomitant water quality management;

Undertakes characterization of industrial effluents;

Undertakes characterization of the water quality of Marikina-Montalban River to assess the impact of quarrying activities.
