Greetings!
Welcome to the Laguna Lake Development Authority’s Website.
In
over three decades, the LLDA has been in the forefront of meeting the challenges
confronting the Laguna de Bay and its watershed. Much efforts have been done
since, yet still not enough to counter the overwhelming impacts of rapid
population growth, industrialization and urbanization in the region.
Pollution from domestic and industrial sources; declining lake productivity
caused by poor water quality and illegal fishing activities; encroachment by
human settlement along river banks and lakeshore areas; proliferation of
non-native species like the janitor fish; and conflicts arising from competition
over access to fishery resources are the major challenges which have coursed our
agency’s program of actions in managing the lake region.
As
the lake agency operationalizes its development mandate, it adopts participatory
approaches emphasizing multi-sectoral cooperation and private sector
partnership. LLDA’s institutional strengthening is focused on enhancing and
greater use of market-based instruments and establishment of raw water pricing,
optimizing the use of IT and GIS-RIS in improving its permitting, monitoring and
enforcement and policy decision making. Enhancement of its image and credibility
is an important element of its institutional strengthening to be truly capable
of providing valuable information support to facilitate development. This
credibility is what LLDA brings into partnership with its stakeholders. The
strategic shift in direction, the current and emerging roles of the Authority
need corresponding changes in the way we communicate with our publics.
As
we engage our stakeholders in addressing today’s rapidly changing conditions in
Laguna de Bay watershed, the Internet has become an effective tool that allows
the LLDA to reach out to more people at their fingertips, web visitors can
quickly and conveniently access environment-related current events,
comprehensive information about the Lake and the lake region,
activities/schedules, programs and projects, and the services we provide.
