World Water Week Events

The Laguna Lake Development Authority together with Maynilad Water Services, Inc., Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), DENR attached agencies and the private sector, joins the week-long celebration of World Water Day (WWD) 2015.

As part of the celebration, the LLDA, through its Public Information Unit (PIU), Project Development Management and Evaluation Division (PDMED) and in partnership with the City Government of San Pablo and Samahan ng mga Kababaihan sa Lawa ng  Pandin, conducted a Lake Pandin Tour on March 17, 2015 at Brgy. Sto. Anghel, San Pablo, Laguna.

Presidential Adviser for Environmental Protection and concurrent LLDA General Manager, Sec. Neric Acosta, greeted everyone in high spirit and showcased Lake Pandin as one of the most pristine among the Seven Crater Lakes in San Pablo City. During the tour, Ms. Leonor A. Poserio, OIC-PDMED presented the Lake Pandin Development Management Plan.

Present at the event were Prof. Nieva Monton, representative of Cong. Sol Aragones, Mr. Leandro Baldemor, Tourism Consultant of Gov. Ramil Hernandez, Councilor Carla Adajar of San Pablo, Chairman Cesarito Ticzon of Brgy. Sto. Anghel, City Tourism Office of San Pablo, City Information Office of San Pablo, Deputy Executive Director for Operations Ramil Tan of Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission (PRRC), Deputy Administrator for Administration and Finance Estrella Icasiano of National Irrigation Authority (NIA), participants and representatives from Maynilad, Laguna Water District, and DENR attached agencies.

Aside from the Lake Pandin Tour, several activities were organized by each agency to promote water and sustainable development. These activities include: Plant for Life by Maynilad, DENR IV-A, DENR-PENRO, Cavite, Kawit and Noveleta local government; River Clean up by DENR III, Lecture Series by DENR-NCR and Manila Water; Symposium on Water Security towards Sustainable Development by NWRB; and a whole lot more.

The event, with the theme, “Water and Sustainable Development” kicked off on March 16, 2015 at the UP Bahay ng Alumni with WWD 2015 Water and Sustainable Development Awards, Championing your Cause by Recognizing your Champions. The WWD 2015 Awards aims to recognize the water industry’s champions for their efforts in addressing water issues and in promoting sustainable development in the country.

The week-long celebration culminated with Let’s Run for Water and Sustainable Development on March 22, 2015 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Complex Grounds organized by Maynilad.
