Toka Toka Partnership Seal Signing between LLDA and Manila Water

Quezon City – The Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA) and Manila Water Company, Inc. (MWCI) commemorate its partnership renewal through Toka Toka Partnership Seal Signing between the two agencies on August 12, 2015 at the LLDA Green Building Roof Deck.

The Toka-Toka used water awareness of Manila Water is geared towards developing programs to help revive the waterways under the PAMARISAN (Pasig, San Juan, Marikina) river systems. It aims to promote the active participation (“Toka”) of stakeholders in this environmental movement that stands for:

T  -alakayan at edukasyon patungkol sa nagamit na tubig; (IEC drives)

O -rganisadong basurahan (solid waste segregation)

K  -oneksyon sa sewer line (connection to Manila Water’s sewer line)

A  -ktibong pagpapa-deslugde ng poso negro tuwing 5 taon (desludging of septic tanks every 5 years)
The partnership has come a long way since it began in 2012 with many implemented projects including clean-up runs, information drives, and seminars.

“Like a marriage, today we renew our vows for a better-informed and greener future,” said Mr. Geodino “Ding” V. Carpio, Group Director for Operations of Manila Water.

“In the work we do for the Office of the President and also for the Laguna Lake Development Authority, we are facing many challenges everyday, but before anything, environmental protection is not just in Earth Day or World Water Day, it is in fact, what will spell the very survival, civilization of the country. Whether we are in the private sector or the public sector, it returns us to individual, community and citizen responsibility.” Sec. Neric Acosta, Presidential Adviser for Environmental Protection and LLDA General Manager.

For its partnership renewal this 2015, Manila Water and LLDA will be venturing into Toka Toka Awareness Campaign for International Coastal Clean-up, LLDA Green Building IEC Campaign, Turnover of Toka-Toka Advocacy Ads for LLDA Seminars, Installation of Toka Toka Pahayagan Sites, and Toka Toka Lingap Sapa.

The Manila Water and LLDA, through its Public Information Unit, shall jointly implement and undertake these series of activities and IEC support to the Program for one year.
