LLDA Participates in Harana Para Kina Lolo and Lola for the Elderly Filipino Week

In line with the celebration of the Elderly Filipino Week, the LLDA participated in the event by sending donations and enjoining staff to partake in the days’ prepared activities. The Elderly Filipino Week is an annual event declared through Proclamation No. 470, issued by former President Fidel Ramos. It is being celebrated from October 1 to 7 of each year.  However, arrangements of this NEDA’s Regional Development Council (RDC)-Sectoral Committee on Social Development sponsored “Harana para Kina Lolo and Lola” event was finalized on October 27 and 28, 2016 at two homes for the elderly.

On October 27, 2016, the LLDA together with several government agencies such as DSWD, DAR, RBCO, PNP, PSA, PIA, Batangas LGU and Laguna State Polytechnic University Sililoan visited the Haven for the Elderly at NTSB Compound, Camp Capinpin, Tanay, Rizal.  This DSWD founded establishment looks after abandoned senior citizens totaling 216 elders composed of 78 males and 138 females.  Currently, the facility has nine cottages as resting area and 11 for their leisure area.

The following day, October 28, 2017, the LLDA likewise joined other government agencies in its visit to the Sinag Kalinga Foundation in Lucban, Quezon. The foundation was established to address social inequity and has steadfastly served the community since 1994. It is an accredited NGO of the DSWD and it operates and maintains its own residential facility. The foundation’s staff of nurses and caregivers provide for the needs of all wards.

In both activities, LLDA joined in the distribution of donations such as rice, noodles, brooms, dustpans, toilet deodorizer, garbage bags, 3 in 1 coffee, biscuits, sardines, powders that were given by management, LLDA employees, relatives and friends. The participating government agencies presented songs, dance numbers and there were games that entertained the elderly.
