Philippine Council for Aquatic and Marine Research and Development (PCAMRD)

A sectoral council of the DOST tasked in the formulation of strategies, policies, plans, programs and projects for science and technology development; Programming and allocation of government and external funds for Research and Development; Monitoring and evaluation of Research and Development projects; and Generation of external funds.


 

The Southern Luzon Zonal Center for Aquatic and Marine Research and Development (Zonal Center 2) is a UPLB-based coordinating and monitoring center of the Philippine Council for Aquatic and Marine Research and Development (PCAMRD). It assists PCAMRD in the management of the fisheries and aquatic resources research and development programs of National Aquatic Resources Research and Development System (NARRDS) member institutions in southern Luzon.


 

 

Society for the conservation of Philippine Wetlands, Inc.

The National Wetland Action Plan was prepared by the Protected Areas and Wildlife Bureau (PAWB) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) of the Philippines in coordination with the various government agencies, non-government organizations and academic institutions concerned with the use and conservation of wetlands.

Lake Biwa-Japan. One cannot fully appreciate the beauty of Japan's natural settings until they are viewed in person. For example, the overwhelming views and beauty of Lake Biwa -- the orange tint of the sky reflecting off the surface of the water at sunset, the views of the mountains on the other side of the lake on a clear day, and the tiny island of Chikubu -- cannot be as appreciated through the lens of a camera as they are in real life.


 

Lake Taihu-China. It is a large freshwater lake with a total area of 2400 square km and an average depth of 2 meters. It lies in the central part of the Yangtse River Delta area. There are some 90 islands, large and small, within the boundary of the lake area. The surrounding area is one of China's largest grain-producing regions. The fishing industry is also very active and flourishing.
