The Laguna
Lake Development Authority was established in 1966 as a
quasi-government agency that leads, promotes, and
accelerates sustainable development in the Laguna de Bay
Region. Regulatory and law-enforcement functions are carried
out with provisions on environmental management,
particularly on water quality monitoring, conservation of
natural resources, and community-based natural resource
management.

The
desire of the LGU to improve solid waste
management and bring down to the barangay
level the responsibility of waste management
are the main reasons that influenced GMA to
pursue this clustered approach to solid
waste management.
The Cluster
MRF
All the barangays of GMA has been grouped
into 3 clusters. Cluster 1 consists of 12
barangays and has a population of 43,042.
Followed by Cluster 2 which is hmade up of 7
barangays with an aggregate population of
27,838. Last is Cluster 3 which is composed
of 8 barangays including 3 poblacion
barangays, has a total population of 27,771.
The Cluster MRF and Composting sub-project
of GMA is consist of two components, namely:
(1) composting facility - windrows and rapid
composting, and (2) MRF. |
