LLDA HOSTS THE 5TH JOINT NEDA-CALABARZON SECTORAL COMMITTEES ON ECONOMIC AND INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT (SCED AND SCID) MEETINGS

Beniaflor G. Ada, Planning Officer I | August 2011

The NEDA-RDC CALABARZON Joint SCED and SCID Sectoral Meeting was held at the LLDA Calauan Office in Laguna on 13 July 2011. The meeting started with the Opening Remarks of the RDC Vice-Chair Dir. Severino C. Santos while AGM Dolora N. Nepomuceno delivered the Welcome Remarks. This was followed by inspiring messages from Atty. Apolinario A. Macalintal and Engr. Ladislao L. Andal, Chairpersons of SCED and SCID, respectively.

The Regional Development Council (RDC) serves as the regional machinery to coordinate the national and local government activities in formulating and implementing development plans and programs in CALABARZON underlying the Laguna de Bay Region.

Projects of different agencies for update and endorsement have been part of the agenda. LLDA presented the LISCOP updates and the Spatial Development Masterplan for Laguna de Bay Basin.

With the presentation of the Masterplan, LLDA has divulged the core issues and strategic interventions through infrastructure such as sabo dams, spillway for floodcontrol, and wastewater facilities, among others. Non-infrastructure support has also been established like the creation of sub-WQMA, IEC on waste management, capacity building on DRR and institutional partnership development. The committee agreed to harmonize the CALABARZON Development Plan and the LdB Basin Masterplan. These interventions will be carried out by the LLDA with the funding support from public and private sectors and various stakeholders.

The meeting served as the venue to raise and discuss local and regional issues relevant in the Spatial Plan of Laguna de Bay Region.

Participating agencies were the Bureau of Fisheries (BFAR IV-A), Department of Science and Technology (DOST IV-A), Department of Education (DepEd), University of Rizal System (URS), Philippine Port Authority (PPA) and other top government agencies and Local Government Units (LGUs).
